One of the many benefits of cooking with olive oil is that it can be heated to a higher temperature than other oils & remains healthy. Even though quality olive oil contains no preservatives, it will keep longer than other food oils if kept in an airtight container protected from the heat and light. It’s best not to keep your olive oil in the fridge as this can cause it to become thick and cloudy.

Olive oil is naturally cholesterol free and contains predominantly monounsaturated fats, which can help support healthy cholesterol levels when enjoyed as part of a balanced diet. It is a source of vitamin E and also contains small amounts of vitamins A, D and K, along with naturally occurring antioxidants.

Olive oil has long been used in traditional diets and may support normal digestive function as part of overall healthy eating. Diets that include olive oil, such as the Mediterranean diet, are associated with positive heart health outcomes in population studies. For example, regions like Crete, where olive oil is widely consumed, have historically shown lower rates of heart-related conditions, though many lifestyle factors contribute to these findings.
